Normally this space is reserved for live music, but I appreciate this has an interest to some of our lot.
Emilie Autumn
02 Academy Newcastle
7th March
£12.50 face value, plus about £4 worth of charges cos Live Nation like their pound of flesh.
If that is off-putting, don't worry, the Academy will be giving tickets away free to people in competitions they didn't know they'd entered come gig day
So, yes - this is the Enter the Asylum tour to celebrate 2006 album Opheliac being re-issued for the FORTH time and Emilie and her pantomime come with absolutely nothing new to offer
If you like mad birds screaming over the top of their own record - this could well be a show for you.
I would write nicer things about her, but she still owes me crumpets.
I'm guessing I'll be going, to try and get my crumpets.
As always, because it's at the 02 Academy - don't forget to remortgage your house before visiting the bar where you can drink lager that tastes like it's been drank and pissed out twice for an insane amount of money.
Did you know the bar at Newcastle Academy is more expensive than London Academy? How the fuck does that work?
I mean, OK the London Academy is in Islington which is only £100 on a monopoly board - but still... _________________ TWF Magazine- www.twfmagazine.com -Issue 10 out now |

Haha...
Well some of the fans are clearly keep buying the same thing, else it wouldn't keep getting released, lol
Plus it's disappointing bar the odd filler track here and there she's done no new material for nearly 4 years
And also disappointing that I didn't get my crumpets
I like her magic harpsichord though, when she stops playing it, it carries on regardless... without being plugged in... magic lol... _________________ TWF Magazine- www.twfmagazine.com -Issue 10 out now |

I could.
But she wouldn't come.
At least - not without a four figure sum of money changing hands. _________________ TWF Magazine- www.twfmagazine.com -Issue 10 out now |

Well, to be fair - it would cost her to be there and she'd want expenses covered else there's no point, really... particularly as her appearance would arguably be a draw.
She may have a case gainst your posters, but it would be a little bit hypocritical - she's ripped off a lot of things, though mostly things that have moved to the public domain (Shakespear, Gloomy Sunday, etc.) _________________ TWF Magazine- www.twfmagazine.com -Issue 10 out now |

I'm gonna try and be fair.
It was actually mostly enjoyable last night.
(of the show)
Criticisms:
Overuse of the magic harpsichord (some bits were live, but mostly it wasn't)
Underuse of the violin (which despite moans from someone near me that it wasn't plugged in - I still believe the violin is fully live... clearly the person hasn't heard of radio signals...)
Unneccessary use of sex as a selling point and overuse as a gag
Some sketches dragged on a bit or became repetitive
Positives:
The stage show wholly polished
Some of the elements like the fire dancing, the trapeze-thing and stilts
I have to admit some of the gags were quite funny
But, overall I did enjoy it
I didn't get my crumpets - but I did get some cookie... _________________ TWF Magazine- www.twfmagazine.com -Issue 10 out now |
