We’ve noticed a slight increase in gigs in Newcastle that we feel would appeal to Charnel House regulars and/or fans of what we do.
We’ve updated our ‘dates’ page with some of these shows and will do little showcase pieces on each of these in the run up to the events.
This Sunday (February 24th), once you’ve polished off your dinner, head on down to Ouseburn because The Chapman Family are playing The Cluny 2.
Last years EP ‘Cruel Britannia’ received immense priase across the board, “the most scathing depiction of a country in decline since The Smiths excoriating ‘The Queen is dead,’”.
The band’s sound ranges from the old raucous cacophony of noise to a more Shoegazing style of playing, with even more effects pedals and a chromatic/ aleatoric sound. Bands they have recently been compared to are the likes of The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Cure,Interpol and Joy Division.
We saw them in 2011 touring for debut album ‘Burn Your Town’ (a cracking album we’ve spun tracks from at Charnel House and on our radio shows) along with O Children and it was a beautifully cathartic experience.
Tickets are priced at £6 – not sure if this is the advanced price or the on-the-door price as it’s not our show – but it’s certainly good value for an excellent band.
