Our regular venue is the function room at Butlers, a pub on Nun Street,
Newcastle upon Tyne. The function room has its own entrance, its own
bar and its own toilets, leaving the Charnel House undisturbed by the
regular patrons of the pub below. Unfortunately, the presence of a
licensed bar prohibits those under 18 years of age from attending.
There's plenty of space for dancing on the dancefloor, away from the bar.
We also have enough space to host a gothic market stall provided by
Forever in Black.
As an upstairs venue, it can only be accessed by stairs. Members of
the Charnel House staff are on hand to provide access to any disabled
customers, but it's a good idea to let us know roughly when you're
coming via the forum
so that we're ready to assist.
Please do not bring food into the venue! It's against the pub's policy,
and The door staff will stop you entering with it.
The Map
Here is a map showing the location of The Charnel House. If you've
never been here before the best directions are from Grey's Monument.
Walk down Grainger Street and on your right hand side you'll see an
Ann Summers shop, next door to the (now closed) Tap & Spile. Turn
right on to Nun Street, and Butlers is on the other side of the road,
opposite the Grainger Market. Enter the left hand door, climb the stairs
and there you'll find us.
